THE IMPORTANCE OF TRAVELING

Nowadays, I had to do some traveling outside Subang. Mostly, I have to go to Jakarta. So early in the morning, after taking my eldest daughter to the school, I will catch a bus in the terminal. There are two choices for you: with or without AC. The name of the bus that you can take are also two: Warga Baru or Kramat Jati.
Sitting in the bus, I usually choose the one by the window. The view helps a lot when you want to forget this 3 hours journey. Moving back and forth from boredom and excitement, I spend my time reading a book, watching street-singer playing some new pop songs (or dangdut song…viva dangdut!) or just being disturbed time to time by the street vendor.
I like travelling. Most of the time, in our ordinary life, I’m being swap away by events that happen. But when I do a traveling, being detached from all of that, a more objective view on life occur. Things that I usually take for granted, become a valuable thing and something that I can cherish forever.
When I was in UK, I miss the home made meal the most. When I was in Hong Kong, I learn the strong connection between myself and my brother (he was in the trip with me). When I was in Turkey, I miss doing fasting with my family. When I was in Singapore, I learn the simplicity of life and miss the slow pace life I had in Subang, West Java, Indonesia.
I remember a tagline from Harley Davidson: “Life is a journey not a destination”.
It’s important to remember that when you’re so busy with your work schedule or getting to do the routines in home.
If it’s hard to see some positive things in your life, maybe it’s time for you to do some traveling.
